On this episode of the Winning at Business and Life podcast I interview Erin Smith, the founder of www.thestartersclub.com. Erin started this business to help entrepreneurs take their idea from a concept and turn it into a business.
Erin did not come from that entrepreneurial background. Her family are farmers and her father always encouraged her to get the “steady” job.
She took her Dad’s advice and did go the corporate route, but the entrepreneur was always bursting to get out. Even while in the corporate world Erin started a number of businesses but always had the “safety blanket” of the monthly salary.
Reading the well known book “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, was a real catalyst, and coupled with coming across the quote that “your children will grow up to be who you are, so be who you want them to be”, Erin realised that she needed to be true to herself and take the plunge.
Hence the birth of The Starters Club! Here Erin helps people get going – with little or no budgets. Her mantra to everyone she works with is – get out of your own way! Find creative solutions to problems!
Erin really helps people to discover their “why”, which is so important as it really helps through those tough times – and there will be tough times!
After working with clients for a period of time, Erin decided to put her process in a book, which she duly did in “Master the Start: 10 Steps to Get Out of Your Own Way and Create Your Dream Business“.
