None of us will ever forget those unbelievable photos of the passengers of Flight 1549 standing on the wings of their US Airways plane which had just landed on the Hudson River. It was just one of those unbelievable images!
My guest today, Dave Sanderson, was one of those passengers – although he never made it to stand on the wings! You know why? It was too crowded!!
Dave, at that time, was a Senior Executive for Oracle but this event changed everything for him.
Dave has written a book, called Brace for Impact, about his experience and what he learned from it, and I can tell you, it is a great read!
In this interview we talk about those minutes before the impact, the time he spent in the water waiting to be rescued, and what he thought about during that time.
To have the opportunity to talk to someone who has experienced something like the Miracle of the Hudson is fantastic and Dave shares with us what he learned from all of this.
His top 3 lessons are:
1. If you focus on the outcome, then anything is possible. Don’t focus on
….the action, just the outcome.
2. How critical it is to manage your mind and your state.
3. Why adaptability and resourcefulness are fundamental to success.

Dave also talks about his daily rituals which set up his day. His book choice is The 4th Turning by William Strauss and Neil Howe.
