Podcast #86: The Gap Between You and Your Greatness

Lolly-Daskal

I am delighted to interview Leadership Expert and Author, Lolly Daskal, who has written the brilliant “The Leadership Gap: What Gets Between You and Your Greatness” which is available now for ordering.

Lolly’s credibility as a leadership guru is without question. She has been designated as Top 50 Leadership and Management Expert by Inc. Magazine. Huffington Post honoured her with the title of The Most Inspiring Woman in the World – quite an accolade!

In the book, which I highly recommend, Lolly talks about recognising that the skills and talents that helped you get the CEO role are not the ones that will keep you there. Those that fail to accept this, don’t last too long.

Lolly asks the brilliant question: “Who are you being while you are leading?” In the interview, which you can listen to here, Lolly goes deep into that question and there is great learning there.

To be successful as a leader we need to shift our mindset and Lolly illustrates that so well when she describes the 7 Archetypes we must embody – The Rebel, The Explorer, The Truth Teller, The Hero, The Inventor, The Navigator and The Knight.

Within each of these archetypes there is the forceful characteristic that propels us forward. However, within that same archetype there is the “shadow” mindset that can undo all that forward momentum. That is the gap!

In the interview  you  need to listen to what Lolly has to say about how important introspection is to become, and grow, as a successful leader.

You will also hear about Lolly’s daily ritual which I find amazing – she reads a book every morning between 4:00am and 6:00am, and the writes in her gratitude journal.

Of all the hundreds of books that Lolly has read, she picks out Viktor Frankl’s brilliant Man’s Search for Meaning which Lolly reads every year.

As a gift to all listeners there is a free assessment until May 16th 2017 about your leadership style when you pre-order the book on www.leadershipgapbook.com and you can also find Lolly at www.lollydaskal.com where all here social media links are shown.

Thanks Lolly for a great interview!
