Make Your Bucket List Your To Do List, says Kendra Wright

Every now and then, you find someone who really stands out from the crowd and makes a big impression on you, and, for me, Kendra Wright is one of those people.

This is a remarkable young lady, and I can promise you that how she lives her life is an example to us all and a testimony to her strength of will.

What Kendra has done – effectively making her bucket list her to do list – is inspiring. What makes it even more amazing is that Kendra is challenged in her own life with the debilitating illness, cerebral palsy. Coupled with that was the challenge of being born to a 15 year old girl!

Not exactly starting life with a silver spoon in her mouth!

Kendra decided early on that she was not going to be defined by her illness, and this is where the concept of making the bucket list her to do list came from.

In 2013 she committed to doing something new and out of the ordinary, one after the other. You need to listen to some of the things she did here!

They included such things as white water rafting to going out in a police car, from working in a soup kitchen to traveling to Europe.

While challenging herself to do all these things, she found that journaling really helped her to remember these things and how they mattered to her.

I love this quote from Kendra which I really think gives meaning to journaling:

“Life is more about what we remember than what we do.”

As she says, so much magic and learning happen every day and if you are not journaling then those are forgotten.

If you are a fan of journaling, or have always thought that it would be interesting to do it, then listen to how Kendra approaches it.

In this interview, she outlines her process and prompts that make it come alive and a treasure trove of learning. It is a great process and I have learned so much from adapting elements of it.

Like Kendra, I also use the Day One app – it is brilliant.

If you want to be shaken out of your lethargy, or need a kick in the backside to start making your bucket list your to do list, then this is must listen to interview.
