Today's episode is a conversation with Jonathan Rivera, who started as an Electrician Apprentice.
It was only after 9 years when he felt he had had enough and gave up his blue collar job, taking a risk to pursue his dreams.
Jonathan then moved into real estate and before he knew it, he was making more in a month than he made in his last 2 years as an electrician.
Things were going very well until he went bust at 27. Jonathan learned that he was unprepared for business, but going bust was a fantastic lesson and he has rebuilt the business.
His learning was that he had not built a business but had created another job. Now he has a business that he truly works only 4 hours per week – the ultimate dream!
Interestingly, this learning came from listening to the experts – through books, podcasts and seminars.
Jonathan is now the “strategist” not the “technician”. Achieving the 4 hour work week took him 10 years, so it was not overnight!
The key is to build the right systems and then automate once you have the system producing the output you need. Jonathan really believes that you need to build the system, so you understand all the moving parts. Then and only then can you hand over to someone else.
Podcasts then entered Jonathan’s life, and after trial and error, he has not only created a podcast that has high listeners but also got to monetize it – creating another income stream.
With the help of his mentors, he was able to rebuild his business and his life. He says that without them, his mentors, he would be nowhere.
Now, Jonathan Rivera is the Executive Producer of The Podcast Factory, where he is impacting thousands of lives with the support of his mentors.
