My guest today is Doberman Dan (Yes, that is another story!) a successful response entrepreneur and copywriter from Ohio, U.S.A who is a living proof that email marketing is alive and well – and very profitable!

Back in the mid 90's, Dan, in spite of having a full-time job as a police officer, had reached a point where he considered himself a total failure as an entrepreneur, which he always secretly wanted.

No matter what business he got himself into it failed miserably, which saw his money dwindle.

His failure strangely was the catalyst for him to  discover direct marketer, Dan Kennedy, who gave him the opportunity to learn about his products and newsletter. He was the very person who inspired him to get into the info marketing mail order business and the same person who introduced him to the The Gary Halbert Letter. He started hunting Gary Halbert down, subscribed to his newsletter which led him to realize that they both had a lot in common.

He decided to do whatever it took to get Halbert's attention and become his protégé. It did not take him long to finally work side by side with Gary and even became roommates for three months in Costa Rica.

In the interview, Dan shares different approaches to building relationship with your ideal avatar through email marketing. He also highlights the following:

  • The importance of relationship building over the long term
  • Being able to identify your ideal prospects needs and provide solutions
  • The need to advertise
  • And more.

Dan's  favorite book is Essentialism by Greg McKeown, which he claims to have made a huge impact in his life this year.

His daily rituals include an hour of music in the morning and focusing on writing between 8am and 11am.
